Children's work

Children and Youth are a very important part of the life at Emmanuel Church.

Sunday Club

The first, second and third week we have groups available for children ages 3 to 11.

The children stay in the main service until the worship team have finished. They then make their way to their groups which are held on the first floor of our church building where they will be warmly greeted by their group leaders and helpers.

Our groups are:

Sparklers: (Pre-school to Reception) Meet in Room One.

Fireworks: (Years 1-6) Meet in Room Two.

Both groups follow a mixed programme of teaching, games, activities, worship and prayer suitable for their age group.

All leaders and helpers have a DBS check and have been safely recruited into their roles.

you are new to Emmanuel Church and would like your child(ren) to join in the fun then please introduce yourself to our children’s leader, Lexie Arthey.

Chaplaincy

Peter Hill, Carol Hill, and Roger Winson  provide chaplaincy to Wyndham Hall Care Home, HMP Grendon and Springhil, and HMP Prison Woodhill.

There is a worshipping community that meets at Wyndham Hall on a regular basis, to celebrate Holy Communion, and Carol provides one-to-one support for those wishing it.  She is assisted by a team from Emmanuel who befriend the residents and interact with them in many ways.  Carol has provided chaplaincy support to the Hummingbird Centre for a number of years, befriending the guests, sometimes providing Holy Communion in their homes, and exploring spirituality, loss of life and bereavement issues.

Peter is part of a wider chaplaincy team at both Grendon & Springhill and Woodhill and is involved in prisoner drop-ins, Sunday Services, visiting all areas of the prison.  He offers both support to the staff, who do a difficult job, and the prisoners who are in a difficult position (both made worse by the pandemic).  Peter is in a unique position to interact with all facets of prison life, having been a Senior Officer within the prison service for 30 years.
